Resilience is a core part of Jewish DNA, and humor is our secret weapon. Sit back for an hour and leave the laughs to Joel as he reminisces about his journey from Solomon Schechter class clown to his experiences as a Lone Soldier in the IDF, and showcases the joys and oys of life in Israel today.
Purity of Arms
How does the IDF navigate the moral dilemmas of war? For that, Israeli soldiers have Purity of Arms, Israel’s code of battlefield ethics, referencing and inspired by the Torah. Together, we’ll dissect Purity of Arms like a piece of Talmud and discuss how IDF soldiers apply the code in real time.

Hebrew words are more than meets the eye! In this interactive lecture, we’ll investigate the secret life lessons embedded in Hebrew words. No prior knowledge of Hebrew required.
Chop, Dice, Spice!
Get a taste of Israel in this hands-on salad-making workshop! Together we’ll make fattoush, Moroccan spiced-carrots, mint-cherry-tomato salad, and classic salat katzutz…all while learning about Israel’s unique climate and the various immigrant groups who brought their recipes and spices to Israel over the past hundred years.
